| A casino in Macau will open Asia's first Michael Jackson shrine after its owners bought the late King of Pop's iconic white rhinestone glove for US$350,000 at a New York audction.
The shrine will be located in the lobby of casino-resort Ponte 16, adding to Macau's attractions, which already includes the world's largest casino, The Venetian.
"MJ's dinstinctive musical sound, vocal style and choreography inspired numberous pop, rock, R&B and hip-hop artists," said Mr Hoffman Ma of Success Universe Group, who has teamed up with Macau tycoon Stanley Ho in the Ponte 16 venture.
"We aim to create a rendezvous to reminisce this great performer of the 20th century," he added in a statement.
During last Saturday's auction, his firm paid US$350,000 for the glove, almost eight times the pre-sale estimate, amid stiff bidding. With fees, it cost US$420,000.
It was worn by Jackson when he first staged his moonwalk dance in 1983 at Motown's 25th Anniversary TV Special.
Ponte 16 also nared nine other items owned by Jackson, which will also be housed in the MJ Gallery.
They comprise a signed drawing of Charlie Chaplin done by Jackson as a child, a 'We Are The World' signed poster, a pair of crystal socks made by sotume designer Bill Whitten, a zombie shirt worn in the Thriller video, an autographed paltinum record for the album Bad awarded by the Recording Industry Association of America, a suit he wore in Men In Black II where he made a cameo appeareance, as well as a Motown 25 photgraph and two other photographs, all autographed by the singer.
"The precious items can revitalise MJ's legendary career to all his fans, providing them another place to house MJ memorabilia besides the Neverland Ranch in California," the resort said.
Ponte 16 reportedly aims to open the MJ Gallery in the first quarter of next year.

It's not abt being too small here in Sg... I'm thinking of sth in mind, even if fans got their collections together & just do like a lil viewing, it'll be fun. cool ;D must remb to keep track of your ideas k! | |
